The Rulebook

How scoring works

The main game is the Daily Inning: rounds generated from that date's seed, the same for every player. You choose a set of 5, 10, 15 or 20 rounds. Every set opens with the classic five (Count It, Size It, Split It, Tilt It, and a rotating Closer), and longer sets keep cycling the skills with a Closer every fifth round. Your first completed set of the day is the official one; anything after that is practice. Your job is one call per round. Everything else is arithmetic.

The other daily games

Three more games refresh every day. Size It is five straight scale comparisons, Weigh In is five straight weight judgments, and the Daily Question is one typed estimation (a pool's liters, a stack's height, a jar's jellybeans) whose answer is computed from the numbers in the question, paying double base points. Each counts once per day, feeds the matching skill in your Eye Profile, and adds its points to your Weekly 1000. None of them touches your Daily Inning streak.

Weekly 1000

Every counted point from the four daily games, Monday to Sunday, adds up in the Weekly 1000. Reach 1,000 in a week to earn its badge. The counter resets every Monday.

Weekly Survival

Survival is an endless run of generated rounds that ends the moment a round lands Foul Ball or a Whiff. Rounds in the top three zones keep you alive. Play it as often as you like during the week; only your best run is kept, and the board resets every Monday.

The Archive

Any past day's Daily Inning can be replayed exactly as it was, because the rounds live in the date's seed. Archive games are practice only.

The five zones

Each round, your call is compared with the true answer. How far off you are, as a percentage of the answer, decides your zone. (Split It is scored in percentage points and Tilt It in degrees, on the same ladder.)

Closeness points

Separately from the zones, every round pays closeness points: 100 minus a penalty proportional to your error, down to zero for a wild miss. Zones are about pride and the wager. Points are about precision. A perfect day of base points is 500, and the wager and heat below push a real total higher or lower.

The wager

After making your call and before the reveal, you may stake 10, 25 or 50 points on your own closeness, or stake nothing. Dead Center doubles the stake as a bonus, In the Ballpark pays it once, the Warning Track returns it untouched, and a Foul Ball or a Whiff costs it. The wager is the game's wager on you: it rewards knowing what you know.

Heat

Land two rounds in a row in the top two zones and you are On Fire: the next round's base points pay 1.5x. Three in a row turns the round Golden. A cold round puts the fire out.

The Rain Check

Miss a day and your streak would normally end. Once per calendar month, a Rain Check bridges a single missed day automatically and the streak survives. It is applied on its own the next time you play; there is nothing to claim and no way to buy another.

Pennant Sunday

Every Sunday, the Closer becomes a Boss Count, a sky full of dots at double base points. The rest of the week the Closer rotates between Weigh In and Fill It.

Challenge links

After a game, you can copy a challenge link. Your score, your per-round points and the day's date ride inside the link itself. Whoever opens it plays the identical rounds, because the rounds come from the date's seed, and sees the head-to-head at the end. No accounts, no server, nothing stored anywhere but the link you chose to send.

Units

The US/metric switch in the header changes every measurement on the site: inches and centimeters, pounds and kilograms, gallons and liters. Answers are generated in metric and converted for display, so a challenge plays identically in either system.

Ranks and badges

Your lifetime rank, from Rookie to Hall of Fame, follows your average round score across every day you have played. Badges mark single-day feats and streak milestones. Your Eye Profile averages your rounds by skill, so you can see whether your counting, scale, proportion, angles or weight judgment is carrying the team.
